Emerson started his love for sailing on his first day at Hollyburn Sailing Club learning the lines of dinghy sailing.

Years later after canoeing the salt and fresh waters around the lower mainland, it was time for a new adventure, the purchase of “Tomahawk” (Catalina 27) learning the ways of a keel boat and navigating the local waters, weather, tides and current, wind or lack there of.

In an attempt to get a bigger boat and the sale of tomahawk Emerson ended up purchasing “Windlass” another Catalina 27…

After meeting many other sailors (including Lyle Franklin) and ending up spending more time on other peoples boats, it was time for a move back to land. This is when in many ways the boating started, going out on many friends boats, meeting people new to sailing or boating, showing them the ropes, the places to go Princess Louisa being top on his list. Vancouver island circumnavigation in 2018 on “Freedom Won” (Bayfield 32 ketch rigger).

From Deck-swab to Captain, Emerson has a love for teaching, friendship and knowledge and of corse everything nautical
