Master Rigger

James McConnell, born Frederick Lorne, grew up in Square Rig.


Captain of the Brigantine Playfair at 21, he went on to offshore


racing then boatbuilding. He sailed the Lady Jean, a reproduction 

of a New York Bay sloop or Sandbagger most of his life. He now lives aboard Santorini,  

his 41 foot Bill Garden ketch.  He has built many kinds of vessels including  

Walrus Hunting boats for the Ungava Bay Inuit, 12 Meter yachts (4) for the 

America's Cup,Tugs, Frigates for Canada's Navy and many more. 

He now has a small canvas shop in Richmond BC.
